Four local teachers with a total of 122 years of combined educational experience retired this summer. A retirement celebration was held May 27 at Pike primary school. Second grade teacher Kim Presley taught for 23 years in Thomaston and Pike counties. Media Specialist Mimi Roberts taught for 34 years in total and in Pike schools since 2002. Educator Pat Lucas has taught fourth and fifth grade and in-school suspension over her career which began in 1977. Music teacher John Rousch taught for a total of 28 years and taught 15 years in Pike schools. ’They each walked down the red carpet to the song ‘˜Celebration’ and we all had the time of our lives,’ said first grade teacher Tammy Thompson. ‘These teachers will be greatly missed.’
