45th Concord Country Jubilee is Oct. 20-21

The 45th annual Concord Country Jubilee will feature more than 130 booths, live entertainment, a parade Saturday at 2 p.m., a car show, the Sunday morning church service at 9 a.m., inflatables, pony and train rides and plenty of food and fun for the entire family. The Concord Country Jubilee festivities will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. ’We will have a wide variety of vendors and so far have 133 booth spaces spoken for so we are almost at full capacity,’ said organizer Anita Neath. ‘We will have a lot of arts and crafts booths and a lot of new vendors. Food wise, we will have booths offering blooming onion, funnel cakes, vegetables, barbecue and plenty of other delicious fair foods.’ Saturday’s live entertainment will include Bonnie Ridge Bluegrass at 10 a.m.; Blue Diamond Butterflies at 11:30 a.m.; Hannah McGarity at 1 p.m.; Country Jamboree Cloggers at 3 p.m.; and the Junior Players at 4:45 p.m. Sunday’s lineup will include Kirkland and Friends at 12 noon, Steve Mallory Brothers at 1:30 p.m. and Pine Grove Five at 3 p.m. New this year to the Jubilee will be an ATM located right near city hall. Jubilee visitors will also have a chance to meet Pike’s new County Extension Agent Brooklynn Wassel as well as new veterinary Mike Kelly of Zebulon Animal Hospital. The Pike County Christian Ministerial Association will host a morning worship service on Sunday at 9 a.m. at the pavilion next to the playground. Pastor Jacob Sparks will deliver the message and Concord Baptist Church will provide the music. All are invited.
