By Sherri EllingtonWith the full numbers in, Pike County schools are again on top of things when it comes to Adequate Yearly Progress ‘“ raised standards notwithstanding, all schools made AYP.At the middle school, 73.5% of all students with disabilities met or exceeded state standards in reading/English language arts and achieved a 17.7% gain in math over last year’s scores. Students with disabilities at the elementary school saw a 16.4% increase in math over last year’s scores. The high school achieved a 31% gain over last year’s scores, with 68.4% of students with disabilities meeting or exceeding state standards in English/language arts.Pike County schools have seen an increase in the graduation rate of 12% since 2007 and 22% since 2004, the last year they were below state average. On the phasing-out Georgia High School Graduation Tests, the high school increased its percent passing on four of five graduation tests, including a 5% jump in science.
