10U All Star champions
The Pike County 10U Pike All Stars started playing together officially as a team after the regular recreation season was over the last week in May. They played in an All Star Warm Up tournament in Covington and went undefeated. Out of 10 teams, they took first place with teams competing from as far away as Macon and Loganville. The Pirates scored 59 runs and only allowed 14 runs scored against them.
The following weekend, there were 15 teams in the Sub State Tournament and Pike once again went undefeated out of 15 teams. The Pirates scored 53 runs and had 24 runs scored against them. This tournament was held in Pike County.
Finally the Georgia USSSA State Championship came down to the top six teams who faced off in Covington for the state title. This tournament included last year’s All Star World Series runner up from Spalding County. Pike took their first loss to Spalding but fought back to beat Spalding twice in the championship game and earn the championship title.
Pike outscored both Spalding teams from the start of the All Star season 73 runs to 44 runs. Throughout the entire All Star season, the Pirates have outscored their opponents 164-74.
The Pirates overall record for the season was 14-1. As of now, the Pirates hold the #1 National Rank in the entire country. Next month the Pirates will be facing teams from all over the country including Texas, Louisiana and Florida. For those who would like to help with travel, several raffles will be held and tickets can be bought from the team.
In addition to being baseball standouts, many of the athletes have been playing together since they were 4 and 5 years old. Seven of the 10U All Stars were on the team that won the Southern Youth Football Conference Super Bowl Winners this past November.
