American Legion Post 197 seeks nominations for 2025 awards

The Pike County American Legion Post 197 is seeking nominations for the 2025 Pike County Law Enforcement, Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic of the Year Awards.

To be eligible for the award, the honoree must serve in law enforcement (Sheriff’s Office, Police Department, GA Department of Public Safety, GA Bureau of Investigations, GA Department of Corrections, Georgia State Patrol or Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Law Enforcement), a firefighting organization (county or city fire department or volunteer fire department) or Emergency Medical Service or Fire Department Paramedic organization/team.

Candidates must either reside or serve in Pike. Requests for nomination should include current resident address, location of duty/service, current title, rank and job description, past positions/titles with dates, degrees and training (schools or academies), community volunteer activities and names of family members.

“Most of these items can be pulled from a good resume,” said Bryan Richardson of Post 197. “The nominating person needs to explain why this person deserves to be recognized and include phone number and/or email address for potential coordination.”

Nomination packets can be emailed to Bryan Richardson at rich5060@bellsouth.net no later than Sept. 19. The Award Ceremony will be conducted at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at Post 197.

For more, contact Bryan Richardson at rich5060@bellsouth.net or call/text 678-764-2611.

“Please help our community recognize and show our appreciation to first responders who help react to life threatening emergencies and ensure our county is safe,” said Richardson.
