Angels need to be adopted

With nearly 200 angels on four Christmas trees in Pike County, organizers from Humbly Serving Ministries are hoping citizens will help fulfill the Christmas wishes of local children. ’We have close to 200 angels on the trees but we’ve only had five adopted,’ said Faye Schneider just two weeks before Christmas. ‘These children have wishes and need caring members of the community to show them the meaning of love.’ The Angel Trees were donated by TNT Christmas Tree Farms and are decorated with angels that display the child’s name, clothing sizes and their top three Christmas wishes. The Angel Trees are at American Pie, Ben’s Hobby Computers, Georgia BBQ in Williamson, Ben’s Hobby Computers, the Humbly Serving Ministries office and Little Nicci’s Pizza in Griffin. ’All the monetary and toy donations will go to the families in need. When you see a family in need and you’re able to take away the stress of the holiday and give them the joy, that makes it all worthwhile,’ said Harmon. ‘The greatest gift is being able to give back. It’s priceless to see the joy in a child’s eyes who received so much from people they don’t even know. If people can’t do a lot, even if they just bring one dollar ‘“ if everyone does what they can ‘“ when you put it all together it turns into something great.’
