Commissioners set a date for an Animal Control Workshop after several months of discussions about it. Pike County will host a workshop Tuesday, May 14, from 6-8 p.m. to discuss animal control options and resources in the county. Coco’s Cupboard and Companion Animal Rescue and Education are two nonprofit organizations that rescue abandoned animals in the county. An animal control officer was named by Pike County but without an ordinance to give guidelines for fines or punishments, David Allen can only write reports about complaints made. Coco’s Cupboard recently held a Spring Fling to raise awareness about the organization, the dogs up for adoption and to help raise funds for their efforts. Tax deductible donations can be sent to Coco’s Cupboard at 70 Pope St., Zebulon, 30295.
