Pike County sheriff Jimmy Thomas and his deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that rocked quiet Concord this morning.The original call was for a residential fire at 321 Spring Road. Inside the home, emergency personnel found the body of Roger Goolsby, 46. Goolsby had an apparent gunshot wound to the head.While investigators were working the scene, reports came in of another body found in front of a residence at 576 Bottoms Road, also in Concord. The victim was identified as 43-year-old Patricia Pitts.Pitts had at least one gunshot wound to the head, sheriff Thomas said.Investigators were able to confirm a relationship between the two. Analysis of the two scenes led to the preliminary conclusion that Goolsby killed Pitts at her residence and then returned to his home were he set three fires and then shot himself.Both bodies have been sent to the state crime lab for autopsy. Technicians are also processing a weapon believed to have been used in both shootings.The investigation is ongoing and further details will be forthcoming, Thomas concluded.
