A Basic Genealogical Research class is being offered by the Pike County Historical Society at the Zebulon Opportunity Center behind City Hall. The classes are free and open to the public and will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first class will cover where to begin research and the quality of evidence. The second class will cover birth, marriage and death records. The classes will be taught by instructor Sara Jane Overstreet. She is a retired public school educator who teaches at Mercer. She completed the DAR Genealogy Education Program and was former Volunteer Genealogist of the Year for Georgia State DAR. She holds several state and national certificates in the areas of Volunteer Genealogy and Lineage Research, notably in the area of teaching Genealogy classes. Plus, she has Pike County family ancestry.
