Arrest made in Griffin bank robbery in which shots were fired

A Woodbury man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Griffin bank Oct. 1. The suspect and a bank employee engaged in a brief gun battle during the heist. William Lee Hunt Jr., 27, of 50 Walker Rd. in Woodbury is being held in the Spalding County jail. The arrest was made following an investigation involving the Pike County sheriff’s department and the FBI. Other agencies involved included the FBI, Griffin P.D. and the Meriwether County sheriff’s office. More details are expected to be released Monday. There is no indication Hunt was injured during the gun battle. No one in the bank was hurt.
