The doors of the Williamson Dollar General were closed around 3 p.m. Friday, June 10 after an arson incident filled the store with smoke and resulted in an arrest.
According to Maj. David Neal of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, an under age suspect lit a box of paper towels and toilet paper on fire with a lighter.
He said the store filled with smoke but there was no structural damage as a result of the fire. The suspect was arrested and is being charged with arson as a juvenile.
