Author to sign books June 30

The J. Joel Edwards Public Library presents photographer Brent Walker on Thursday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m. Walker will share his photos and experiences from his book The Hidden South. Walker spent several years traveling throughout the South, photographing those living in the margins of society, those who are often ignored or shunned altogether. ’All of a sudden, you have to look at people as humans,’ he explains. ‘And if all the people in this book are humans and they all have a story, then everybody that’s being judged out there has a story as well.’ The program is being hosted by the library as part of its ongoing summer reading program for adults, illuminating the theme Exercise Your Mind ‘“ READ! It is free and open to the public. Books will be available onsite for purchase and signing. They are also currently available at A Novel Experience. For more, patrons may visit the library during business hours or follow the J. Joel Edwards Public Library on Facebook.
