The Pike County High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled to Dauset Trails in Jackson Tuesday, Oct. 24 to compete in the Region finals. The boys team earned their sixth consecutive Region Championship in region 2-AAA and are currently ranked eighth in class 3A. The cross country teams are coached by Ken Smith and Ashley O’Steen.
Xander Potter earned the Region Champion title for the second straight year and set a new course record on the Dauset Tails course with a finish time of 17:18 for the boys. Nolan Brown finished second as the Region Runner-Up while Jack Barron finished third, Andrew Edwards finished ninth, Jack Bell 11th, Jarrett Morris 15th and Luke Mann 17th.
The girls’ team finished second and qualified for the state meet. Jocelyn Coker led the way for the team, finishing ninth in the race followed by Evie Vining in 10th place, Faith Millwood in 11th place, Morgan Boynton in 15th place and Bailey Morris in 16th place.
The state meet was held in Carrollton on Saturday with 3A boys competing at 11 a.m. and 3A girls competing at 11:45 a.m.
