Candidates qualify, races shape up

Board of elections supervisor David Neyhart announced the following local candidates who have qualified as of noon March 8.

STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, DISTRICT 135:
Beth Camp (R) – incumbent

SHERIFF:
Jimmy Thomas (R) – incumbent
Scott Gray (R)
Jamal Willis (Independent) * will not be listed on the ballot in May but will be on the ballot in November if he can submit the required number of signatures by July 9

COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 4:
James Jenkins (R) – incumbent

COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 3:

Jason Proctor (R) – incumbent
Todd Child (R)
Sonya Petty Smith (R) (withdrew from race March 6)
Ken Pullin (R)

CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT:
Rebekah Hanson (R)

CORONER:
Terrell Moody (R) – incumbent

TAX COMMISSIONER:
Donna Minter Chapman (R) – incumbent

COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN:
J. Briar Johnson (R) – incumbent

PROBATE JUDGE (No Party)
Ginny Woodall Blakeney – incumbent

BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT 3:
Emily O’Steen – incumbent

BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT 4:
Marcie Bradberry – incumbent
