Charles Eugene Jaquess, age 63 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Heritage Inn of Barnesville.
Gene was born on April 16, 1959, in Atlanta, the son of the late Edna Mae and Kenneth Jaquess. He attended Henry County High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Gene was a welder by profession, but also created numerous pieces of yard and home decorative art that he sold or gave away to family and friends. He was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan and in his younger days enjoyed fishing. Gene was a smart and funny person, quick with quips and jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Denise (Shivers) Jaquess of Griffin; two sons, Brian Jaquess of Griffin and Jesse (Tasha) Jaquess of Gay; four grandsons, Ethan Jaquess and Matthew Jaquess, of Sharpsburg and Jax Jaquess and Hayden Harris of Gay; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Edwin Butler of Jackson, MS.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David Shivers and Norris Wootton; several nieces and cousins also survive.
Gene’s remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
