A 7-year-old child was life flighted to Egleston and an 11-year-old child was transported by ambulance to an area hospital after a single vehicle wreck on Highway 18 Monday afternoon. According to unofficial reports, the 7 year old’s injuries were not life threatening but were a precautionary measure. Pike County Sheriff’s Office traffic investigators are still determining the exact cause of the accident but believe the driver was distracted at the time of the wreck. The van, which contained the driver and two children, left the highway, hit a culvert, knocking the skid plate completely off and continued for several more yards before coming to a rest.
