Clean sweep in Pirates’ first region series

In their first region series of the season, the Pirates swept the Peach County Trojans, scoring 31 runs and only giving up three runs in the three-game series. The Pirates won 4-1 in the first game as they run-ruled the Trojans in the fifth inning at The Jack. Trevor Bagwell picked up the win as he pitched five and two thirds innings with nine strikeouts and one earned run on one hit. Jake Carden pitched one and a third innings, allowing one hit but no runs in relief. Offensively for the Pirates, Ridge Smith had a triple and two RBIs. Coleman Johnson had a double and Jackson Terry had a sacrifice fly for an RBI.

The Pirates hit the road for a double header and the final two games of the series but that didn’t slow them down any as they defeated the Trojans 17-2 in the first game and run-ruled their opponents in five innings.

In game two, the Pirates shut out the Trojans for a clean sweep in the series with a 10-0 victory. There were three homeruns in the last game of the series with Andrew Huffstetler, Caleb Hammond and Ty Mobley hammering homers.

The Pirates will host region foes Mary Persons at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 4. They will face the Bulldogs again in a double header set for April 7 on the road with games set for 4:30 and 7 p.m.

They will face Jackson on the road at 5:55 p.m. April 11 and then host a double header Friday, April 14 with games at 5 and 7 p.m. In their last series of the season, they will host Upson Lee at 5:55 p.m. Monday, April 17 and then travel to Thomaston for a double header April 18 with games at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
