CodeRed: Sign up for emergency alerts

Be prepared for emergencies in the new year by making sure you are signed up for CodeRed by Crisis24 which alerts residents via email or text message of important updates.

Pike County residents can text Pikecountyema (all one word) to 24639 to sign up for the free service which sends out alerts during emergency situations. Citizens can also go to https://accountportal.onsolve.net/pikecountyga and sign up for the service.

“Any residents who were signed up for Code Red previously should still have it,” said Pike County EMA director Jimmy Totten. “They were able to get everyone transferred over to their new platform.”
The CodeRed service allows Pike County authorities to text, call or email about emergencies such as severe weather, evacuations, boil water notices, missing persons and any other dangerous situations.
After hackers recently accessed the CodeRed system, a new platform was quickly developed with the information transferred to allow Pike authorities to still contact citizens in case of emergencies.
Residents can choose to receive a phone call, a text or an email and can select whether to receive general notifications or only emergency notifications.

The CodeRed emergency alert service is used by counties and communities across the state and the nation.
