County manager Bill Sawyer will resign as of June 1, and he tendered his regsignation in a letter to the county commission chairman Doug Mangham. In the letter, dated April 16, Sawyer praised department heads for their professionalism over the past two years of his tenure as county manager. ’Through the collective efforts of us all, we are now in a better financial situation with operational funds and the ability to ensure taxes are kept in line,’ he wrote in his letter of resignation, also noting Pike County received the first clean audit in years and that the county is moving forward.
