County to discuss animal control; see proposed budget

At their 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 meeting, commissioners will discuss animal control along with other county matters.

The board will be presented with the proposed Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 9 a.m. in the main courtroom at the courthouse. A public hearing will be held at 1 p.m. April 20 and citizens are invited to participate. The first reading of the budget will be May 2 at 1 p.m. and the second reading will be May 25 at 6:30 p.m. The third reading and final adoption of the budget is scheduled for May 30 at 5:30 p.m.

Copies of the draft FY 2023-24 budget will be at the J. Joel Edwards Public Library at 7077 Highway 19 south and at the board of commissioner’s office at 331 Thomaston Street in Zebulon. Last year’s $18.6 million county budget is listed online at pikecoga.com/budget–finance.html.
