The Pike County courthouse will be featured in an another upcoming film produced by Swirl Films out of Atlanta. The film is set in 1955. The production company will also be filming in the old jail facility at the sheriff’s office which is mainly used for storage and is not where inmates are housed. County manager John Hanson said the fee to use the courthouse is $1,500 and the fee to use the old portion of the jail is $1,000. Commissioners approved the filming at the courthouse at their Tuesday, Sept. 26 meeting. Crews will start setting up on Friday, Oct. 13 with filming taking place Saturday, Oct. 14. Last year, Channing Tatum was at the Pike County courthouse to film scenes for Logan Lucky, a movie about two brothers who attempt to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in North Carolina. The film crew set up for filming Sept. 1, 2016 and filmed both inside the main courtroom and outside the courthouse as crowds of citizens watched from all around the courthouse.
