Crash kills two; child airlifted

Two adults were killed early Wednesday and a five-year-old was airlifted after their car struck the rear end of a flatbed truck that had stopped in the southbound lane of Hwy. 19-41 north of Griffin near Hampton Inn. According to reports by Bill Taylor of WKEU, the dead were identified by Spalding coroner Sonny Foster as James Taylor, 27, and Kirstie Nichole Brooks, 25, died at the scene of the 3 a.m. crash. They lived on West Poplar Street in Griffin. A five-year-old in their vehicle, a Nissan 200 SX, suffered internal injuries and was lifeflighted to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta. The investigation, including questions as to why the truck was stopped in the traffic lane, continues.
