The Pike County High School girls and boys cross country teams traveled to Carrollton Nov. 3-4 to compete in the 3A state meet.
The boys team entered the state meet ranked eighth in 3A and finished seventh overall, with a team average time of 18:34. Senior Xander Potter led the way for the Pirates with a time of 17:40, followed by Nolan Brown 18:05, Jack Barron 18:13, Jarrett Morris 19:15, Jack Bell 19:21, Andrew Edwards 19:53 and Luke Mann 20:21. The team’s seventh place finish tied for the second best state ranking in school history.
The girl’s team had good individual runs but were unable to finish with an overall team score. Junior Jocelyn Coker led the way for the Lady Pirates with the fastest time of 24:32 followed by Evie Vining 24:44, Faith Milwood 26:51 and Bailey Morris 30:19.
