Georgia DOT maintenance crews will be working in the north and southbound lanes of U.S. 19/State Route 3 in Pike this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Wednesday, Nov. 25. Workers will apply an asphalt sealant and preservative to all travel lanes as well as the center turn lane.The areas being treated will be from the Highway 109 area south of Zebulon to the downtown courthouse square. ’Travelers through this area are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area. Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution in this area as workers and heavy equipment will be in close proximity to travel lanes,’ said Kimberly Larson, DOT communications officer. ‘This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as they travel through this and all work zones.’Message signs, barrels and cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.
