Dog and Pony Show set for Saturday

The second annual Dog and Pony Show will be held May 14 at Chestnut Oak Center on Highway 19, five miles south of Zebulon. The free event is sponsored by the Friends of Pike County Animals, Pike County Horse Club and Pike County Agribusiness Authority. Some acts scheduled to appear include the Dauset Trails reptile exhibit, Nero the Pike County sheriff’s office K9, Bubba and Friends birds of prey and rehabilitation, animal educators from the Department of Natural Resources and animals from local Future Farmers of America members. Setup starts at 7 a.m. and the flag will be posted at 10 a.m. with events following. Bailey invites everyone to bring chairs and blankets to the event and enjoy the horse and pet costume contests, blessings of the animals and other events. Silent auctions will be held to benefit the Pike County Horse Club and FPCA.
