Dog & Pony Show reception is April 27

The 2024 Dog and Pony Show will feature intriguing snapshots of precious, hilarious and touching moments captured by photographers from Pike and as far away as Florida and Alabama. The annual artists’ reception, Jurors’ Talk and Coco’s Cupboard parade of adorable pooches will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at A Novel Experience bookstore on the courthouse square.

“Be part of our annual tradition of celebrating dogs and horses! We’re working with CoCo’s Cupboard (our local dog rescue group) to bring the best to our April show,” said ANE’s Chris Curry. “There will be dogs-for-adoption, fresh air and a parade. We’ll hang the accepted work on the walls of the bookstore and enjoy our scrumptious hot dog feast at the reception.”

Many of the photos will be for sale by the photographers in the show. Photographers from Pike County include Christina Neath of Concord, Kim Toris Belle of Zebulon and Rachel McDaniel of Meansville.
Other photographers include Susan Perry of Fayetteville, Larry McIntosh of Apalachicola, FL, Fred Strobel of Atlanta, Evelyn Pesiri of Dallas, Marla Puziss of Hapeville, Joe DeSciose of Hoover, AL, Malgorzata Florkowska of Griffin, Lori Kolbenschlag of Senoia, Neal McEwen of Brooks, Jeff Barrett of Jackson and David Shively of Fayetteville.

Proceeds from the event and from sale of the photographs will go to benefit Coco’s Cupboard, a local animal rescue that was founded in Pike County and recently opened the new Coco’s Closet Thrift Store and rescue facility in Gay, GA.
