Don Hanson is AAA Coach of the Year; Coleman Crow is Player of the Year

Pike County High School’s head baseball coach Don Hanson was named the 2019 AAA Coach of the Year and Coleman Crow was named 2019 AAA Player of the Year by the Georgia Dugout Club. The Georgia Dugout Club represents all of the High School baseball coaches in the state of Georgia.  ’Crow was the leader of a lethal pitching rotation that was the backbone of the Pirates’ state championship run. The senior not only handcuffed his opponents at the plate, but he also did his part on offense.’ ’His versatility was a big reason for Pike County’s success. He finished with an 11-0 record and a 0.99 earned run average. Offensively, he batted .454 with 15 doubles, nine homers and 45 RBIs,’ said the Georgia Dugout Preview. The magazine also names Georgia’s Coaches of the Year, including Pike County’s Don Hanson. ’Hanson took Pike County to its first state title in school history, using a strong pitching rotation and gutsy hitting to hoist the championship trophy,’ said Georgia Dugout Preview magazine. Pirates baseball players made the Class AAA First Team, including Coleman Crow and Noah Windhorst. Pirates baseball players also made the Class AAA Second Team, including Marsh Burford and Dylan Garner.
