Richard Yeoman, 42, was arrested after a vehicle pursuit Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. in Pike County. The reckless driver was reported by citizens and stopped by deputies at the square, where it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The incident began when calls to 911 reported an erratic driver on Highway 19, the vehicle was said to be driving on the wrong side of the road and in the center turn lane.Sheriff’s deputies and Zebulon Police officers coordinated efforts to get the vehicle stopped before it reached the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 18. A ” box in” maneuver was utilized during which time the suspect struck a deputy’s vehicle and was stopped.The drivers side window to Yeoman’s vehicle had to be broken to remove him from the vehicle as he refused to open the door. He faces numerous charges including driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
