By Sherri EllingtonEaster activities are starting in Pike County as early as Saturday, March 31 and will run through Easter Sunday, April 8.Pike County parks and recreation will begin its Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday March 31 on the baseball fields.The Rock Ranch Easter Eggstravaganza, a free community egg hunt, will be held Saturday, March 31. The Rock Ranch will open the gates at 11 a.m. and the event concludes at 2 p.m. More than 26,000 prize eggs will be hidden at the ranch for the event. Age-specific egg hunts will be held across the 1,250-acre ranch. Age groups include toddlers under 2, ages 2-3, 4-6, 7-12, and 13 and older.Actual egg hunts begin at 12:45 p.m. Story time with Harvey Wilson will begin at 11 a.m. as will photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. The Easter story presentation will be at 12:30 p.m.Williamson United Methodist Church will hold a community Easter egg hunt, Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m., the same time as the Life Springs Church Eggstravaganza! which will include an egg hunt, hay ride, ice cream, rock climb and slide.Concord Baptist Church will present ‘Christ Above All,’ an Easter musical, Sunday, April 1, 11 a.m. Pike County Assembly of God will hold an Easter fellowship, Sunday, April 1, at 10:45 a.m., lunch served after. There will be inflatables and an egg hunt. For information call 770-567-1594.Friendship Church will present an Easter play ‘Choices,’ Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. Afterward, there will be an Easter egg hunt for children and a fish fry fundraiser for youth. Plates will be $5.Meansville Baptist Church will hold its Passover Celebration meal Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m.St. Peter The Rock Catholic Church will celebrate Holy Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Good Friday, April 6, at 3 p.m. the church will hold Stations of the Cross and at 7 p.m. the Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion. On Holy Saturday at 8 p.m. parishioners will celebrate Easter Vigil Mass. On Easter Sunday, April 8, 10 a.m. Mass will be in English and the 1 p.m. Mass will be in Spanish. An Easter egg hunt, games and food are slated for Saturday, April 7, from 1-4 p.m.Concord United Methodist will celebrate Good Friday, April 6, at 12 noon with a light lunch and fellowship.The Concord Easter egg hunt will be held downtown, Saturday, April 7, at 4 p.m., beginning in front of the Strickland Building. There will be an appearance by the Easter Bunny so attendees should bring a camera. The event is sponsored by Concord Baptist and Mt. Olive Baptist churches.
