Edith B. Floyd

Edith Buffington Floyd, age 98 of McDonough, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Floyd was born in Pike County, Georgia, on October 1, 1924.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Olin Wayne Floyd; parents, James Edward Buffington and Mae Smith Buffington; step-mother, Ethel Buffington; sons, Barry and Wade Floyd; one great grandchild, Emmie Kate White; sister, Louise Buckley; brothers, John, Melvin, James, and Paul Buffington.  Mrs. Floyd was retired from Southern States and was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Mae and Howell Upchurch, Ruth Floyd, Peggy and Ronald Kendrick, and Bruce and Tammy Floyd.  Her grandchildren: Kevin and April Upchurch, Keith and Kelli Upchurch, Kelli and Joe Lanier, Kacie and Garry Floyd, Kyle and Nancy Floyd, Shelley and Lucas Vaughn, Kayla and Wade White, and Kole and Katie Floyd.  She had 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation for Edith Buffington Floyd will be Friday, August 18, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Hampton First Baptist Church, 85 McDonough Street in Hampton, Georgia. Pastor Craig McAdams will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunny Side First Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 W. McIntosh Road, Griffin, is in charge of the arrangements.
