An elderly woman was killed in a house fire Tuesday.From Spalding sheriff Wendell Beam:On Tuesday, November 4, 2012, at 5:27 PM, Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Deputies along with units of the Spalding County Fire Department and the Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to 1337 Jackson Street, Apartment B, Griffin, Georgia, regarding a structure fire. When units arrived the duplex apartment building was engulfed in fire. The resident and only occupant of the residence was unable to escape the fire. Ms. Jewel Fambro, age 75, was pronounced dead at the scene. Spalding County Fire Marshall Eddie James along with Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Paige Holmes are conducting the investigation.
