Family shares autism story through Baby Boo Finds Her Voice

Baby Boo and her family are sharing her story of autism and finding answers as a family. Pike County mother and writer Sarah Palmer (who writes under pen name Ruby Summers) recently released her first book about autism and her daughter finding her voice. The book is available on amazon.com with the following description.

“Baby Boo was born with a very special gift. Follow along with her point of view at all her doctor’s visits as her parents search for answers. And join in the joy of finally being able to express herself with her Autism.”

The family of five live in Pike County with the children attending Pike County Schools.

“Our middle daughter has autism, and my wife has written a book about our journey together. What makes it even more special is that our oldest daughter illustrated the pictures in the book,” said William Palmer.

Sarah has been writing short stories and books since she was a child, starting in elementary school.
“I found it hard to find books that kept my interest so I began creating them. My writing has always been just for my family members and myself. But recently I took the bold step to self publish,” she said. “I am enjoying sharing my gift with the world. I love bringing my character to life.”

The family’s story together actually started with a news article that was published about William escorting a family to the hospital while they were in labor with their baby. Henry County officer Palmer helped escort a young family to the hospital after pulling over a vehicle for speeding in September 2015 and watched the children while the husband attended to his wife. He and Sarah started talking as a result of the article when she messaged him to thank him for his thoughtful acts.

“Fast forward to today – that family is now us, and we’re blessed with three beautiful children,” said William. “It’s come full circle.”
