Filming to delay traffic Wednesday

The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to avoid the area of Highway 18 near the county line of Pike and Meriwether. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and avoid the area due to heavy congestion. Film crews taped parts of The Walking Dead at the location for the fifth season of the show. A filming crew will be working in the area of the bridge over the Flint River. Work will require intermittent traffic stops of around five minutes between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 14. Local law enforcement will be in the area assisting with traffic control. Speed limits have been reduced and will be strictly enforced. Message boards, signs and blue lights will be used to alert and channel motorists through the area.
