After just over an hour in a closed, executive session, members of the board of commissioners reconvened March 12 to announce the top two finalists for the county manager job. The finalists include current county attorney Rob Morton and current planning and zoning director Jeremy Gilbert.
Former county manager Brandon Rogers resigned Aug. 9, 2024. County attorney Rob Morton is serving as interim county manager and has served as interim county manager at least eight different times during his tenure with the county.
After the executive session, the names of the two finalists were announced and Briar Johnson asked if commissioners had anything else to add.
Commissioner Ken Pullin said the public should know that the board is not looking to hire a county attorney. Chairman Briar Johnson replied that was Pullin’s opinion.
The final decision on the county manager position has not yet been made. The next commissioner’s meeting will be held Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the main courtroom of the courthouse.
