Find Bigfoot this Saturday

Molena will host the first ever Bigfoot Festival and Elkin’s Creek 5K and one-mile walk Saturday, Nov. 12 with events and entertainment throughout the day. The Elkin’s Creek 5K will kick off with check in at 8:30 a.m. and the race at 9 a.m. The one-mile walk to Elkin’s Creek bridge will begin at 10 a.m. with selfies at the bridge sign with Bigfoot.


The event will include festival foods, vendors and live music featuring the Soggy Broccoli Boys and other local musicians.


Hear first hand from former Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputy James P. Akin as he gives a presentation and signs his book Elkins Creek from 2 to 5 p.m. with four other authors and 14 speakers included as well.


Locals and visitors can document their personal Bigfoot encounters starting at 11 a.m. in the city’s Bigfoot Encounter book, by recording their explanation on video or typing it at the Bigfoot Encounter kiosk. A campfire with storytellers will start around 5:40 p.m. as the festival winds down.
