Absentee ballots were mailed Friday as early voting began at the courthouse. The ballots will have five referendums for voters to consider. Pike County registrar Sandi Chamblin said sample ballots are posted on the courthouse walls. The referendums include allowing the state to execute multi-year contracts for long-term transportation projects and projects to improve energy efficiency and conservation, adding a $10 tag fee on private passenger vehicles to fund statewide trauma care expansion and a proposed statewide referendum to allow businesses’ inventory to be exempt from state property tax.
