Plans to celebrate Flag Day today (Wednesday, June 14) with a Flag Retirement Program hosted by Boy Scouts of America Troop 465 at the Pike County American Legion Post 197 fire pit area were delayed due to rain. The Journal Reporter will announce the new date and time as soon as it is decided.
“It is estimated that there are more than 500 flags to retire,” said Bryan Richardson of Post 197. “There are flag drop off boxes in Williamson (contact City Hall) and at the Pike County American Legion Post 197 at 645 Meansville Street, Zebulon. Or bring your flag to the Flag Day and Flag Retirement event.”
The flag drop box is available year round at the Post 197 building in Zebulon.
