Murder suspect sought in drug deal gone bad

Pike County investigators arrested a 14-year-old female suspect Tuesday around 3 p.m. in connection with the murder that took place on Patton Road Saturday night. The shooting death took place after a drug deal apparently went bad, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Antonio Murgado Jr., 19, for felony murder. At the time of the murder, he was on bond through Clayton County for armed robbery and in Spalding County for possession of methamphetamine. Murgado is being sought after by law enforcement and is considered armed and dangerous. Call 770-567-8431 with any information on his whereabouts.

Jaiden Chappell, 18, was arrested Monday and charged with murder. Investigators are still following leads in the murder of James Knight and said additional arrests are possible. Jaiden is also being charged with armed robbery, use of telecommunications device to facilitate a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and making false statements.

Investigator Maj. David Neal said none of the suspects involved are from Pike County and that they are working to get warrants for the male who pulled the trigger in the incident.

Deputies responded to the scene of a shooting last night at 10:00 p.m. The incident occurred at 214 Patton Road, outside of a residence The shooting resulted in the death of James Knight, 19 years of age. The initial investigation has revealed that the shooting happened during an illicit drug deal. Investigators have identified one suspect and are working to identify a second. This act was not a random act of violence as Knight was targeted by the suspects.

A murder arrest warrant has been obtained for Jaiden Chappell, 18 years of age, from Griffin.
