Halloween haunts, happenings

Head to downtown Zebulon for scares on the square Halloween night with trick-or-treating at various businesses and a costume contest. The free community event will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Children who wear costumes to the J. Joel Edwards Library to check out books Oct. 31 will receive either tricks or treats. Several local churches will hold fall festivals and trunk or treat events, including Life Springs Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. with inflatables, games and treats. A trunk or treat celebration will be held Oct. 31 at Friendship Church off 41 bypass from 6:30 to 8:30. New Hope Baptist will hold their trunk or treat Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Harps Crossing Hollonville will have a Fall Festival Nov. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. with a petting zoo, hay rides, face painting, a bouncy house and more on Highway 362 west in Williamson.
