Happy Independence Day!

Citizens all across the country – and across Pike County – will fly the American flag as they celebrate Independence Day. This home in Concord is draped with an enormous 20 foot by 30 foot American flag. The bookstore in downtown Zebulon will display a variety of photographs of ‘Old Glory’ throughout the month of July. A Novel Experience will display the Flag Show for the entire month of July with more than 30 photographers displaying works celebrating the American flag. This home in Concord is decorated with a military ceremonial flag that was raised on holidays at military installations. The house and land is on Strickland Road, Concord, Georgia, is unofficially named ‘Concord Manor’ by family, and it is owned by Bryan and Kathy Richardson. Bryan is a U.S. Army veteran of 23 years. He received the flag from his father-in-law, Frank Thrift Sr., an Army Vietnam veteran, who had worked at Dobbins Naval Air Station in Marietta. He had eyelets added so it could be hung horizontally. It has flown every fourth of July since 2004.
