Heavy equipment needed for Lamar relief effort

The biggest ongoing need in the tornado relief effort in neighboring Lamar County is for heavy equipment.According to IDA executive director Missy Kendrick who is helping coordinating relief, bobcat-style skid steer loaders, front-end loaders, bulldozers and timber skidders or other equipment with grappling hooks are in short supply.”We need equipment to collect debris and move it to the side of the road for pickup,” Kendrick said.Anyone with such equipment that is available is asked to call the chamber office at 770.358.5884 immediately.There is also considerable need for appliances like stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, washers and dryers, Kendrick added.
