Homecoming court crowned

The Pike County High School Homecoming Court were crowned during a special celebration after the game on Friday, Sept. 24. The Pirates fell to the Jackson Red Devils 45-14 during Homecoming but had several strong plays from the offense. The Red Devils struck first and put 14 points on the board before the Pirates were able to answer back with a 42-yard touchdown run by #30 Jakilen King. 

In the second quarter with the score Red Devils 28 to Pirates 6, quarterback #10 Gage Lee picked up a 22-yard run to get them to the 10 yard line. Jakilen King picked up the 10-yard rushing touchdown and the Pirates were successful on the two-point conversion. 

Gage Lee had six rushes in the game for 80 yards and went three-for-eight passing with 33 yards. Dylan Simms held strong on defense with seven tackles. On special teams, #29 Wyatt Cochran blocked a punt and he also had nine tackles and one tackle for a loss on defense. 

The Pirates are 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in region play. The Pirates will face region opponents Peach County on the road this Friday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. The Peach County Trojans are 2-2 for the season.
