How secure is death row?

Security on death row at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison has been called into serious question in the wake of one suicide, one possible murder and the discovery of two explosive devices there in recent weeks. The Journal-Reporter first broke the story of the death row suicide of Leeland Mark Braley just hours after he hung himself in his cell on New Years Day. Now, http://mymcr.net is reporting that two incendiary devices about the size of Visine bottles were found on death row December 29. One of the devices was found on an inmate while the other was found abandoned in the prison yard used by the condemned inmates. The devices were not thought to have much explosive power. Additionally, http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/one-of-two-death-270720.html is reporting that another death row inmate, Timothy Pruitt, may have been murdered. He died of injuries December 6. Those injuries were originally thought to be from a suicide attempt.
