Mr. John William “J. W.” Williams, Sr., age 73, of Concord, passed away September 23, 2021, at his home. He was born on a military base in the Panama Canal Zone, son of the late Norris Hooper Williams and Annie Ruth Holcomb Williams. In his early career, J. W. worked for BellSouth, then for AT & T for 30 years, retiring as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed working in his yard with his flowers and trees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Williams and sister-in-law Sharon Williams.
He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years: Carolyn Williams; children: Kim Heard (Jimmy) of Luthersville; Beverly Maddox (Jeff) of Barnesville; John Williams, Jr. “Jay” of Concord and Barry Williams of Concord.
Thirty-one years ago, J. W. made the decision to donate his body to science in hopes of helping doctors find a cure for cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 at Christ Chapel Community Church in Zebulon.
