Pike County High School junior Jordan Holley recently set world records in deadlifts and squats in his age division at the 2019 Revolution Powerlifting Sarasota Showdown in Sarasota, FL. Jordan was in the 220 pound, Teen 16 to 17, Raw Classic division at the Jan. 26 meet and broke two world records, including one that stood for about 10 years. Jordan’s deadlift was 578 pounds and his squat was 531 pounds, breaking a record that was held since 2009. He weighed in at 214 at the meet and is 16 years old. His trainer is Scott Ryals of Iron Works Gym in Thomaston.’A lot of kids don’t know that there are scholarships available to students for powerlifting,’ said Ryals. ‘Jordan is a great kid and he has had colleges looking at him in reference to powerlifting scholarships.’Jordan is the son of Trey and Sasha Holley.
