Judge ‘stuck his tongue in my mouth,’ attorney testifies

A Fayette County divorce attorney testified, albeit reluctantly, under oath Friday regarding a pattern of sexual harassment toward her by former Griffin circuit superior court judge Johnnie L. Caldwell Jr. Additionally, fellow former judge Paschal English, who was subpoenaed to testify, failed to appear, according to http://www.thecitizen.com Attorney Susan Brown said she and Caldwell were in a mutual hug at a tailgate party before a UGA football game in Athens in September, 2007 when Caldwell stuck his tongue in her mouth. She said she rebuffed the overture and later reported the harassment to English, who was the circuit’s chief judge. “I didn’t want anything to happen to Judge Caldwell. I just wanted the comments to stop,” Brown testified. Brown told Judge Grant Blankenship that Caldwell flagged her down in a courthouse parking lot and asked her to go away with him on a trip for a week. She also testified Caldwell, using graphic language, asked her to wear tight pants in his courtroom for his own enjoyment. English, who was under subpoena to appear, was on his way to South Carolina, according to Judge Blankenship who did not find him in contempt. English will apparently appear later.
