Representatives from downtown Zebulon businesses, elected officials and citizens came together on Friday to wish UPS driver, Keith Jackson a happy retirement. Keith worked for UPS for 41 years and during that time became a staple of Pike County’s community. Dr. Kelly of Zebulon Animal Hospital tagged UPS in a Facebook post about Keith’s work ethic and customer service and it along with other posts wishing Keith a happy retirement soon gained traction collecting over 653 comments, 4831 likes and 439 shares. When the Chamber of Commerce found out Keith was retiring after 41 years on Oct. 7, they delivered a special surprise for him, decorating their office with signs that said, ‘PC loves Keith,’ ‘Thank you Keith,’ ‘Our UPS man is cooler than yours!’ and others. They also planned a drop in reception on his last day and created a package wall on the corner of the square across from the First Bank of Pike where citizens could write special messages on the sign that said, ‘Thanks Keith for 41 years!’ Commission chairman Briar Johnson presented Keith with a flag that was flown at the U.S. Capital.
Others around the community honored him as well, including the board of education who presented him with a brown poster that said, “Happy Retirement Keith, thank you for being amazing! We will miss you!”
“We’ve known for years in Zebulon that we have the very best, and now it’s time for the world to know! Keith is everything these comments say and more. He loves the Lord, his family, and his customers and always goes above and beyond. He is extra special to our family since my son was able to be his holiday helper several years in a row while preparing for dental school. Keith, we love you and thank God for you,” said Janette Fortner Bradley in one of the many responses thanking Keith for his years of service.
