Members of the community – especially students – are invited to join the Kiwanis of Pike County in the hunt for Pokémon during a special Back to School Battle from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. ’Meet new friends, or bring one with you. Explore the Zebulon courthouse square’s Pokéstops and gyms,’ said Kiwanis Club of Pike County president Rebekah Betsill. ‘Enter a raffle to win a Google Play or App Store gift card. Stop, and enjoy a break with snacks and drinks that will be for sell at the Kiwanis tent. In this quest for Pokémon you can meet others, and battle opposing teams for the nearby gyms.’The event will be held in the parking lot next to the Zebulon Post Office. All proceeds from the Pokémon Go Back to School Battle will go back to the community to help local children. Throughout the year, Kiwanis promotes school programs and organizations with funding when needed. They also host an annual Bringing Up Grades (BUG) celebration at the elementary school.
