The Lady Pirates added two wins to their 5-2 record last week as they shut out Peach County, defeated Mary Persons and lost to Upson-Lee in a last inning heartbreaker. The Lady Pirates dominated Mary Persons 16-4 Aug. 26 at home as Shelby Duncan started off scoring in the first with a double and added two homers in the third and fourth. The home team scored eight runs in the second inning, one in the third and five in the fourth, only allowing Mary Persons to score three in the second and one in the third. With 15 hits, Jamie Corbin, Shelby Duncan, Callie Williams, Bailee Brown and Alana Crenshaw each had multiple hits in the game. Tori Dilbeck earned the win, allowing six hits and four runs over three innings and striking out one. Faith Stowers threw one inning in relief. The Lady Pirates faced Peach County Aug. 24 as two pitchers worked together to lead the team to an 11-0 victory. Jamie Corbin pitched four innings, allowed no runs and struck out three. Hannah Davidson threw one inning to close the game. The Lady Pirates offense dominated with 14 hits in the game as Emma Smith, Madi Neal, Maddie Brown and Shelby Duncan all had multiple hits. Upson-Lee surprised the Lady Pirates with a walk off win on Aug. 23 after both teams had explosive offensive games. The game was tied at 11 with Upson-Lee batting in the bottom of the seventh when a single scored the winning run for the Lady Knights. The Lady Pirates had trailed by seven runs in the fourth inning but fought back to tie up the game in the top of the sixth inning as six runs were scored. The Lady Pirates had 13 hits as Shelby Duncan went 3-for-3 with homers in the first and third and Madi Neal and Bailee Brown also had multiple hits. Faith Stowers started for the Lady Pirates, going three innings and allowing nine runs on 10 hits, striking out three and walking one. Tori Dilbeck threw three innings in relief.
