Lady Pirates look to add region wins

After three games on the road, the Lady Pirates basketball team returned home to host the Jasper County Hurricanes and Upson-Lee Lady Knights.

They struggled some on the road, losing to Mary Persons 71-41, to Peach County 63-27 and falling just short against Jasper County by a score of 42-41. The Lady Pirates beat Jasper County in their first meeting of the season in December by a score of 57-49.

Freshman Maliyah Holmes and sophomore Sadie Lewis are leading the team in stats. Maliyah has scored the most points of the season at 137 points. She also has the most rebounds at 146 and the most blocks at 23.

Sadie leads the team with 63% of free throws, 37 assists and 32 steals.

The Lady Pirates played Jackson after the Journal Reporter’s press deadline Jan. 23 at home.

The Lady Pirates will host Trinity Christian School of Griffin at 6 p.m. Jan. 30. They will host Peach County at 6 p.m. Feb. 2 and travel to Strong Rock Christian on Feb. 6.
